Department of Media & Communication Studies

Overview

The world we live in is dominated by media in many forms. From entertainment and culture, through news and social media, to politics and promotion; the media shapes our understanding of what we know and what we consume. Whether one wants to work in one of these areas, to research their impact or simply to understand more and more about the relationship of the audience with the media itself. The world of communication is fascinating, fast-paced, and ever-changing. It is widely known that one of the skills that world leaders value the most is effective communication; an eloquent, confident and well-informed graduate with strong oral, written and visual communication skills will enter the job market ready to shine in many roles, industries and media outlets. This means that professionals in the industry need to be adaptable and stay up to date with the latest trends and developments.

In today’s media landscape, it’s increasingly important for communication and media professionals to have a range of skills and be able to work across different platforms and mediums.
