The Department of Art and Design will achieve excellence in the diverse domains of contemporary Art & Design by giving its graduates opportunity to develop skills through extensive practical work (i.e., hand-on) knowledge of state-of-the art techniques and processes to develop a strong portfolio in the visual as well as digital arts
Mission:
The Department of Art and Design will achieve its vision by inculcating creative thinking, artistic expression, effective communication, indigenous cultural awareness among its graduates. Moreover, the creative skill-based learning through collaborative initiatives by merging visual, oral, and written communication with creative and technological innovation will help to produce employable graduates in various industries including Tourism Industry to promote Heritage & Culture as well.
Program Offered
Bachelor of Design
The Bachelors of Design is a four-year degree Program which aims to meet the expanding needs of the national and international media and Digital industries. Through experimentation and innovative methods, the degree cultivates students’ creative abilities and instincts.
This degree is designed by keeping in mind the current academic policies of HEC regarding Arts and Media. This curriculum will meet the demands of today’s highly digitized world by developing high-quality Artistic skills of digital technologies including both still and Motion based media.
Students learn all aspects of digital media creation, including digital object creation, sound design, and animation, and much more as part of this degree. The practical work approach will equip students with capacity to break into the freelancing market in the field of Digital Arts, as well as work in a variety of professional roles as part of growing teams.
Objective of Program
- To encourage and strengthen the students’ creative abilities, through the combination of arts and design using traditional as well as computer-based graphic tools.
- To train a workforce to satisfy the demands of a wide range of national and international industries for computer-based graphic art (for example advertising, gaming, animation, Graphic arts and Video production, etc.)
- To prepare professional with diverse skills who can work in future as Digital Artists and young entrepreneurs
- To prepare students with freelancing expertise and for a variety of careers in multimedia industries.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate holding Higher Secondary School certificate or equivalent (2nd division with at least 45% marks) in Intermediate (HSSC) in Arts/Science/CS or equivalent qualification.
