Dr. Habib Ali Bokhari (Vice Chancellor Kohsar University Murree) has taken the initiative to manage the burning issue of Solid waste in Murree. On the direction of Commissioner Rawalpindi, a community engagement activity was conducted in Murree to convert the solid waste into valuable products e.g. Organic fertilizer/Compos, feed, and other valuable recyclable items) with the expertise of university faculty and students along with AHKMT and RWMC workers. Mr. Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi (Deputy Commissioner Murree) ADCR Murree, Assistant Commissioner Murree, along with Vice Chancellor KUM visited the initial solid waste characterization study point. Worthy Vice Chancellor KUM and Dr. Muhammad Qasim along with the AHKMT team briefed and talked about the awareness campaign of the university at the community level, conducted the survey for solid waste characterization study, their management, and valuable resource recovery products from solid waste of Murree. Deputy Commission Rawalpindi appreciated the role of the Kohsar University Murree team and agreed to start this project on a large scale in the future.
